Payments, Software & Technology – December 29, 2009

  • Digital Money ForumAre mobile payments a "terrorist dream" or not?
December 29, 2009 – As I mention in my comment on the blog post, the concept that "identity is the new money" deserves some additional contemplation…particularly from the perspective of someone keenly interested in Federated Identity & Security

December 28, 2009 – This quote…love it, wish more of my entrepreneur friends (particularly in the technology industry) lived by it:

“The biggest mistake founders make is thinking that building a product by itself will be perceived as an accretive milestone. Building a product is only accretive in cases where there is significant technical risk – e.g. you are building a new search engine or semiconductor.”

  • CloudAveSummer Fun – Rant Redux #1
December 28, 2009 – I really don’t have much to add. But this quote deserves to be shared:

“Whatever happened to Tim O’Reillys impassioned plea to “make stuff that matters”? Whatever happened to humility, to passion, to making a difference?”

  • Anton Chuvakin Blog – "Security Warrior"Security Predictions 2010
    December 28, 2009 – This quote:

“Overall, we will be approaching those thresholds – with unpredictable and interesting events likely during the course of the year!”

Is what keeps so many of us motivated and excited about what is happening in security.

I do agree, and it is counterintuitive to many, that the current low % rate of card fraud will continue. The “reuse” that you reference appears, notionally, to be a large portion current carding market. It is also good to see that you aren’t positioning whitelisting and blacklisting as competitive implementation schemes…it seems to me, in my limited experience with such, that they are (in fact) complimentary as you suggest….or, perhaps, not mutually exclusive

December 28, 2009 – I’ve commented on the post itself on the blog, but this is an excellent “case study” of how consumer preference drives tender adoption.
