PayPal Developer Conference: Innovate 09
Tomorrow is the start of Innovate09…The PayPal Developer Conference.
As the brief description on my twitter page has always read, I view my life as “living at the intersection of payments and technology”. As such, I have to admit that I’m delighted that the tagline for the conference is “The intersection of ideas & money”.
Far too often, when engaging with the software community, the focus is placed solely on technology. As I’ve discussed in the past, technology for the sake of technology is intriguing…but, as a business, monetizing your ideas (brought to life through interesting technology) is infinitely more important.
I am rather looking forward to attending the event and, as you would expect, will be blogging my thoughts in the evenings and on twitter for the majority of the day. As is my wont, I will be most intrigued by the discussions of monetization and their discussion of the PayPal platform components.
If there is anything in particular you desire for me to track down…or any questions you want me to raise…shoot me an e-mail or leave a comment.

Tyler as someone who lives in this world of currency exchange and working with PayPal as well — I'm curious your comments on the relationship with PayPal and eBay and specifically PayPal/eBay policies of earlier this year that continue to shackle sellers with payments being placed on hold but sellers encouraged to ship their items.
Tim. I have some very firm opinions on the subject. (Imagine that 🙂 ) There is an eBay & eCommerce track at the event so I will see if there is anything brought up regarding the situation…The beauty of a developer event is there are heaps of people to chat with about it as well. I will absolutely revert with both my opinions and those of others.
